Web Team Update - September 2024

Bugzilla Issue Round-Up

Kevin has been going through a lot of old issues and some more recent ones, closing ones that are already dealt with, working on others, and consulting with the team. This plus other Bugzilla work the team has been doing has been productive. Some examples:

Can't enter member result if membership expired since ride - Charlie writes: “I think the situation we want to avoid is RBAs and SR600 owners continuing to administer rides after their membership has lapsed.” Maybe something for the Board to weigh in on.

Remove "US-" prefix from RM results - LRM doesn’t actually prefix their cert#s with country code. For now we've removed the prefix from the 2024 Golden Falcon results. We will let that sit for a while before applying similar changes across the board.

"other grand randonnes" page needs updating. - This is this page, which is referenced under the Long Brevets dropdown as "Current US Grand Randonnées". This page is stale and unmaintained. Current US grand randonnées are already listed on the home page. We could approximately replace the current contents by generating a history of US Grand Randonnées using the 1200k codes in the database. We could also link people to the list (Google Sheet) on the LRM website. As long as Dave would like to keep updating his Grand Randonnée History page, this work is low priority. However in the short term we should either update the page or remove it.

filter route selection based on Allure Libre / UAF flag - When selecting a route to link to an event, this would show only Allure Libre-enabled routes for Allure Libre events, and only Audax/UAF-enabled routes for UAF Audax events, to make it easier to find routes for the type of event being organized.

searching Brevet routes using Map search option - The map of the US with red and white dots isn't updating in a timely manner to show which regions offered full SR series.

Update PBP Page - We have uploaded the US and US+Canada results for PBP’23 to Drupal pages. (Charlie already uploaded US results to our database.) You can see the links on the main PBP page. Bill Bryant is adding PBP’23 to his History of PBP page. Finally, it turns out that the RUSA PBP Wiki still lives - Don Bennett converted it to the new Wiki format before Google’s deadline. The navigation format is somewhat different:

We could make it look like our Admin Wiki, which is more like the old look, if desired. The Board or others may want to discuss how best to use the PBP Wiki going forward, in light of our Drupal PBP pages.

Find events where two members likely rode together - This may be bounced back for further discussion after upcoming website privacy enhancements.

Gravel Award Support

We have come up with some work and duration estimates to support Gravel Distance and Gravel Rouleur awards. JLE will work with Deb Banks to submit a proposal to the Board. The Web Team feels these can be in place in time for the new year, if approval is worked out soon. (And assuming other priorities don’t intervene.)

Camino de Santiago

Lois is on a peripatetic hiatus for a few days, walking the Camino de Santiago trail.

Respectfully submitted,

- Kevin, Lois, Linda, Charlie, Man-Fai, Osvaldo, and JLE for the Web Team
