Web Team Update - June 2023

Housekeeping

Man-Fai is working on a couple of issues with storage space on our hosting service, just the mundane housekeeping chores that everyone has. And Lois is in the process of tracking down dead links on our site (mostly obsolete links to other sites).

8000m 600k’s

We have a scheme for storing the necessary extra route date for 600k routes certified to have at least 8000m of climbing. (And as an adjunct, should RUSA add recognition based on climbing.) For the 8000m ACP 600k’s, this should include the link to an OpenRunner route, which Rob informed us needs to be sent to the ACP for verification. For now, however, with the small number of 8000m events this year, which you can see listed on the home page, he and the Routes Committee are handling this manually.

Duplicate Brevet Routes

Charlie has been ferreting routes that look like duplicates of others. These could inflate Rando Scout figures. Not a major concern. Mainly data clean up.

BMB RWGPS Route

We now have the BMB’02 route as a RWGPS Collection. This lets viewers visualize elevation and climbing details, and with Google Street View, users can actually check out the landscape. Thanks to Colorado randos Jim Howell and Brett Sterling for transcribing the BMB’02 spreadsheet provided by Mark Thomas. Link now on our BMB page.
