Privacy and Security

Discussed some options for member privacy - what kinds and levels of privacy might be desired, and the means to achieve them. This in anticipation of possible revised policies, requirements and questions from the Board. Also discussed security challenges to the site and database, how we might evaluate possible vulnerabilities and address them.

SmartWaiver Workflow

Man-Fai is working on improving the workflow for signing and retrieving SmartWaivers, to better handle the case where the waiver has been signed but is not (yet) available to fetch. Meanwhile, Lois has added an instructive error page on what users should do.

RideStats Fallout

Responding to concern from the Board about regions who had adopted the RideStats software, the Web Team sent to the Board an analysis of what region websites do - e.g., club membership management, event registration and event fee collection, event calendar, etc., and possible resources (e.g., third-party web-design platforms and third-party club management packages). Recommended (1) regions engage in knowledge sharing as to what works for them, how they’ve solved problems, etc.; (2) clubs needing to replace certain functions also consider third party offerings; (3) no involvement from the Web Team except to consult and facilitate.
