American Randonneur editorial changes.
Mr. Dayton led the discussion regarding editorial board changes. He discussed having Paul Rozelle take over as editor, replacing William DeRosset. Mr. Dayton also discussed using member Mike Sturgill as production person and finding a replacement for Clayton Scott, who had expressed an interest in stepping aside.

Detours bag discount.
The board discussed an offer from a Washington bike bag maker, Detours, with an offer to extend a 25 percent discount to RUSA members for any bag purchase. Board members said RUSA should make it clear that it was not endorsing their products but would be willing to announce the offer through Facebook and other channels used by RUSA.

Website photo gallery.
Ms. Wise asked about updating s photo gallery / page on the website. Board members noted that a slideshow / photo gallery using photos from flickr, a photo sharing site, is now in place but has not been actively promoted among RUSA members. Board members discussed moving a link to 1999 Paris Brest Paris photos to the PBP page and soliciting a newsletter article about how to add pictures to the flickr account.

Missed intermediate controls on 1000k.
Mr. Ellis led the discussion about the issue of missed intermediate control times during events, noting that some RBAs and French officials have permitted it from time to time. Mr. Thomas suggested telling RBAs to consider hills / mountains when setting controls, and also consider using untimed controls in situations where terrain and other factors might affect the ability of riders to make control time cut-offs.

Election update.
Mr. Thomas said board voting was going well and that he was receiving e-mail votes every day. He noted 239 votes had been cast as of the meeting date, and he said voting would continue until Dec. 31.

Miscellaneous updates.
Mr. Thomas said he had received a note from France that R-5000 medals were on the way. He said that French officials had informed him that they had overlooked a medal for one U.S. rider. Mr. Thomas said he would send that rider a note and let him know the circumstances surrounding the missing medal.
