  1. Rhode Island Sales Tax. The Board revisited the Rhode Island sales tax issue, affirming that the organization intended to be in compliance with the laws governing sales tax collection and remittance. Mr. Kuehn summarized the pertinent issues, and Lois Springsteen agreed to pursue a legal opinion on the matter on behalf of RUSA.
  2. Committee Reports. The Board received updates from representatives of the Awards Committee, Membership Committee, Permanents Committee, Publications Committee, Rules Committee, and Souvenirs Committee. John Lee reported as RBA Liaison, noting that RBAs had contacted him with questions regarding various PBP-related issues.
  3. PBP 2011 Quota Management As a practical matter, it remained uncertain whether PBP 2011 rider quota management would be required. Nonetheless, the Board members agreed that it was an important issue to address early. Among other things, the Board discussed qualification proposals; recognized the training and practical benefits to members who ride a Super Randonneur series in 2010; and confirmed the importance of keeping the membership updated as information on PBP qualifying and registration becomes available.
  4. Election Results Publication Policy. The Board considered the organization's policy regarding publication of results after each RUSA Board of Directors election. The Board members approved the practice of publishing the results in each post-election issue of the American Randonneur. Board members observed that general election results were not information that was intended to be withheld or treated as confidential, but instead should be disseminated to the membership.
  5. Domestic 1200K for 2011. The Board discussed holding a domestic 1200 kilometer event in 2011 as an alternative for RUSA members who may not wish to, or may not be able to, attend PBP that year.
  6. Adjustment to American Randonneur Award Nomination Deadline. The Board adjusted the deadline for nominations for the American Randonneur Award. The deadline was moved from December 15 to December 31.
