Displaying pending events on the public calendar
A new feature has been developed that will optionally display pending events (i.e. awaiting approval from the Brevet Coordinator) on the public RUSA calendar. This will allow RBAs to better publicize their events and riders to better plan out their riding seasons, particularly late in the year. Some text/styling tweaks may be in order, but the core functionality is ready to roll out.
Changes to US grand randonnée summary page
Kevin will be working on the following aspects of his grand randonnée summary page:
- Exclude pre-1999
- Exclude canceled events (and canceled archived)
- RM -> LRM
- Differentiate future events somehow
Grand Randonnée codes
The Web Team has been assigning grand randonnée codes to grand randonnées as they are calendared for 2026 (creating new codes as needed, e.g., for Dan’s event). This is a task that the Web Team is handling for now, rather than the Brevet Coordinator Committee. The process will be refined further as the Coast to Coast award is discussed further.
Ultra Randonneur award application
The Ultra Randonneur application allows foreign events to supplement domestic events as SR qualifiers, however years without a complete domestic SR series were omitted from the application form. The form now shows years that don't have a complete domestic SR series in order to account for the possibility of foreign qualifiers.
Member demographics report
The member demographics report has received a few incremental updates according to the recent updated gender policy:
- Nomenclature updated to men/women instead of males/females
- "non-females" split into "men" and "non-binary / decline to state"
- Blanks are now displayed as 0 since the table looked odd with lots of missing cells in the new column.
The "non-binary / decline to state" column will be further split after website updates that allow setting and recording the new gender option.
Note that the changes won't appear publicly until the next snapshot is generated (2-week schedule; next snapshot on October 1st).
Bug 1103 - Result missing from member result page
Diagnosed an issue where a member's results appeared in the back office and in the event results page, but not on the member's personal results page. The root cause was a manual edit to the RUSA # for the event result after the results had been saved. This workflow is not properly supported, so better handling is needed going forward. A workaround is to manually delete the errant result and add back the correct one so that the RUSA # field is never edited.
Bug 1110 - Results submission form rejecting fast ride completion rejected
The results submission form had been using a static 30 kph maximum speed, and rejected a 4h25m completion time for a 150 km event. The form now matches the maximum speeds as defined on the Rules for Organizers page.
Bug 1111 - RUSA member not receiving automated messages from RUSA
Diagnosed an issue where a member was not able to access their RUSA website account because they were not receiving the automated password reset email. It turned out that the member's inbox was full and they weren't receiving any emails, period. Detecting this sort of issue should be incorporated into the troubleshooting processes.
