2027 RUSA Board Candidates - Pam Wright

Pam Wright

We all ride. A lot!

And we learn a lot, too. When things get hard, we don’t look for ways to quit.  We problem-solve.  Slow down, eat something, take a break, reassess…find a way forward.  That practical, “grit vs quit,” mindset has served me well.  Funny how often those same lessons apply off the bike! Randonneuring has become a wonderful metaphor - and balancer - for my life, and maybe yours, too!

I’m passionate about helping newer riders (and some experienced ones, too) by sharing hard-earned lessons and encouraging practical rider safety. My approach to serving on the Board would begin with listening, collaborating, supporting what’s working, and strengthening connections between members and the Board. For 20 years, I’ve benefitted from the generosity of so many who make our sport possible.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to ride with clubs throughout 50 states and on five continents.  I’ve made wonderful friendships and learned that while we may approach things a little differently, we all love this wonderfully quirky sport and the world we explore.  These experiences have given me an intimate, boots-on-the-ground understanding of our sport and the people who make it possible.

Volunteering is already a big part of my randonneuring life.  With Lone Star Randonneurs, I create and manage routes, host our marquee events, and support rides throughout the year.  Nationally, I’ve enjoyed serving on RUSA committees and creating/designing awards recognizing riders’ achievements.

RUSA has given me a lot.  I’d be proud to give something back.
