2027 RUSA Board Candidates - Jonas Nygard

Jonas Nygard (#6335)

My motto “Keep it simple, but be prepared and ready for everything” applies to my randonneuring as well as my personal and professional life. I’ve been a RUSA and MnRando member since 2010, riding mostly in the Minnesota area. We have an awesome club with a great group of riders, and I served on its board for two years.

I see the opportunity to serve on the RUSA board as a way to give back to a style of cycling that means a lot to me. Professionally, I’m a management consultant who specializes in business transformation (strategy, streamlining, simplifying and developing sustainable and smart business processes to benefit users and customers). I will bring those skills to the RUSA board. I’m particularly interested in making things easier for riders, such as a welcoming process for first-time riders, simplifying insurance paperwork, sharing best practices across clubs, and streamlining administration for less bureaucracy.

I started randonneuring, almost on accident, after meeting Rob Welch at a charity cycling event. As I struggled through the 100-mile ride, he told me all about PBP. In that instant, I decided to do PBP, too. In 2011, that dream came true and I’ll be going for my fifth in 2027. I’ve also completed a few 1,200+ks in Sweden (Pilgrimsbrevet and Sverigetempot) and London-Edinburgh-London. I especially enjoy talking to randonneurs from all over the world and I’ve learned something useful from all of them.

I wish bon courage to everyone running for board positions.
